The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists (IAOP) was established in 1976. Its’ primary objectives are the development and promotion of the practice and science of oral pathology, the advancement of under and postgraduate education, and to further the knowledge of clinical aspects, laboratory diagnosis and applied and translational research in the speciality field of oral pathology. The IAOP wishes to encourage communication between individuals of all nations in pursuance of these objectives.This is achieved through biennial IAOP congresses, journals on Head and Neck Sciences, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, and its interaction with national Oral Pathology Societies throughout the world. Any individual who is interested in oral pathology is eligible for membership of the association, provided that such a person conforms to the recognised standards of professional ethics.

The IAOP is striving towards becoming the leading force in academic oral pathology internationally.
